Junk Mail TipsThis is a featured page

Although difficult to eliminate entirely, Junk Mail (SPAM) can be minimized. First, avoid using your Shen email address for online purchases (eBay, Amazon, etc.) as this contributes to the proliferation of junk mail. If necessary, establish a free personal email account (through Yahoo, HotMail, etc.) for online shopping and personal use.

Second, familiarize yourself with Outlook's Junk Mail filter. When you receive a junk mail message, DON'T JUST DELETE IT. Rather, right-click on it and select Junk E-mail, then Add Sender to Blocked Senders List. It is normal to get a message that says the Junk Mail Filter is not available (it really is!). Just click OK. Notice the message, "The sender of the selected message has been added to your Blocked Senders List, and the message has been moved to the Junk E-mail folder." Click OK. You should never receive mail again from anyone on your Blocked Senders List. However, it is recommended you take this one step further. In most cases, you not only want to block a specific email address (i.e. sales@discountdrugs.com) but any mail from that domain (in this example, newcustomer@discountdrugs.com, marketing@discountdrugs.com, etc.). To block an entire domain, use the Actions menu to select Junk E-mail,thenJunk E-mail Options. Just click OK, when told the Junk Mail Filter is not available (it really is!). Click the Blocked Senders tab. Click to select (highlight) an address in the list. Click the Edit button. Delete everything in front of the @ sign (i.e. if the address is sales@discountdrugs.com, delete sales so all that remains is @discountdrugs.com). Click OK. This ensures that you will not receive future mail from any address at that domain. Repeat as necessary. Click OK when finished.
